Super Smash Bros. fans have never been spoiled by papa Sakuri so much since the announcement of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. From “everyone is here” to Ridley to King K. Rool to the teases of a single player mode, this isn’t only looking to be the best Smash game ever by far. This is looking to be one of the greatest games of all time! So, of course, everyone on the hype train (choo choo) has a set of characters that they want to see in the game including me. These are my top 5 dream characters I would love to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
Number 5: Miles “Tails” Prower (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Tails the Fox has been a staple in the Sonic series since way back in 1992’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2. He was even considered for Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, so I think it’s finally time for Tails to get the spotlight! He could use his tails and mechanical abilities to his advantage. In terms of popularity, almost everyone can name and associate Tails with Sonic as he has been in dozens of games. It’s time to give the fox some loving!
Number 4: Isabelle (Animal Crossing)
Isabelle, who debuted in the most recent Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing New Leaf has practically become more of a mascot for the franchise than Vilager is. She is widely known among all Nintendo fans and has a very marketable design. Even if she appears as an echo fighter of Vilager, I think she is still very deserving of a spot on the roster.
Number 3: Rayman (Rayman)
Rayman has been a heavily wanted Super Smash Bros. character ever since the fake leak of him for Smash 4. Ubisoft is currently one of the few big companies without a rep in Smash and what better character to use than their mascot, Rayman. Rayman can have moves pulled from Rayman 1, 2, 3 and the newer games. He also is a very recognizable character between all gamers and he even got a game ported to Nintendo Switch. Not to mention Ubisoft has been partnering up with Nintendo for Mario + Rabbids and exclusive Starfox content for Starlink. I say bring the man to Smash!
Number 2: Banjo and Kazooie (Banjo-Kazooie)
Banjo and Kazooie may not be the most recognizable duo, but they certainly are deserving of a spot! They started out as characters owned by Nintendo and Rare in their first game which released in 1998. A sequel was followed up two years later on the Nintendo 64. However, since then, they have been bought with Microsoft who has done almost nothing with the characters. Fortunately, Microsoft and Nintendo have been buddies recently. Phil Spenser has even said twice he would love to see them in Smash. Their move set could very easily be based on the first two games in the series. Bring the bear and bird we all know and love!
-Crash Bandicoot: He got a game on Switch and Activision does not have a rep yet.
-Dr. Eggman: I think he could work perfectly as an echo of Bowser Jr, and he has been in almost all Sonic games.
-Goku: Don’t judge me.
-Spyro: I think he would be another very cool rep for Activision!
-Decidueye: One of my favorite Pokemon from the newest generation of Pokemon games!
-Issac: Golden Sun is a series with a few games but a big fanbase, and fans have been demanding this character. I think it makes sense to include him.
-Geno: He has been the most requested character alongside Ridley and King K Rool, both of which got in.
Number 1: Stanley Squarepants (SpongeBob Squarepants)
There is no argument, Stanley S. Squarepants is the most revolutionary character in gaming of all time. You should be ashamed of you thought he was going to lose, he is the greatest character created of all time. He wins all the Emmy awards every year! How about this; “Stanley Squarepants breaks his way into Smash!”
Number 1: Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)
I know what you’re thinking; “Shadow for number one!? Really?” To that I have to say I don’t care. If you follow me on Twitter, you saw this coming. Shadow the Hedgehog is the favorite character for many Sonic fans, and he is the second most popular Sonic character along side Sonic himself. He has been a big part of the franchise since his first appearance in Sonic Adventure 2 from 2001. He could be an echo, but I would much rather him be an original fighter. If he is an echo, one thing I would change is Sonic’s spring move to a chaos control teleport simalar to Mewtwo’s. #shadowforsmash
