Hello everyone, Bulba here and yet another week passed without a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct. Smash fans are beginning to lose hope in a October Direct due to the fact that we have not gotten one yet this late in the month, so they are beginning to speculate we will indeed get our Direct in November. But what day? There is much evidence for the next Direct to appear on the 1st. Also, thank you to Chrizen on Twitter for helping me provide evidence. Let’s get to it!
The first piece of evidence involves the Smash themed Gamecube controllers planned for use in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the Smash bundle for Nintendo Switch. The Gamecube controllers will be launching on November 2nd, 2018 alongside the bundle. Why is Nintendo releasing everything about Smash except Smash itself on November 2nd? For a demo, perhaps? If so, where would they reveal said demo? It would make sense for Nintendo to reveal a demo during a Smash Direct and coincidentally November 1st is the closest Thursday to November 2nd.
Why does it matter that November 1st is the closest Thursday to the 2nd? For those who didn’t know, every instance where Smash info has been revealed via a Direct (other than it’s big reveal at E3) it has been on a Thursday. Using that logic, it is safe to assume that the next Direct will be on a Thursday. This means that if Nintendo wants to get the last Smash Direct on a Thursday it would have to be on October 25th or November 1st, but November 1st has more evidence which is listed in the previous paragraph.
The next piece of evidence has to do with an upcoming event in Japan. Nintendo will be holding a Super Smash Bros competitive tournament that same weekend of November 2nd. Sure there may be a few other games at the event, but Nintendo has made it clear on their website that Smash is the main focus. Wouldn’t the weekend of the Direct be the perfect time to show off the new fighters revealed a few days prior? It only makes sense.
The final piece of evidence is just the overall placement compared to the final release on December 7th. The beginning of November is a very good time to keep the hype going from now until the final release without hype ever slowing down. Also, it would fit with what Mr. Sakurai (the creator of the Smash Bros. franchise) stated saying to expect the news to slow down after Isabelle’s reveal in September. Finally, November 1st is a very simple day which is easy to remember without being too close or far from Smash Ultimate.
Thank you so much for reading! Do you think a Super Smash Bros. Direct will appear on November 1st? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments below. See you soon, and I hope to catch you later! Also, Shadow the Hedgehog for Smash please Mr. Sakurai.
